36535/2 | (Near) Death Experience. Jan 2 2018, Lahti. | I think today might give some foretaste of the coming year. Night was nearing and I had taken zero pictures -> to the city with the camera. While roaming the streets I found an unopened pack of cigarillos (pic2), perhaps sign of luck? Little later I stopped to photograph writing on the window (pic3, "Lahti is the next Kallio", Kallio is a rather vibrant, slightly rough district in Helsinki) and almost had my head smashed by ice falling from the roof. How ironic would it be to die as you stop to take a picture on the second day of your 365 project? It was really quiet in the city, like it is always in Finland in the winter evenings. The lone lit balcony seemed appropriate for the mood (pic3). While walking back towards home, there was the second object of the day on the ground. A bird. Apparently it didn't have as good luck with the falling ice.
36535/2 | (Near) Death Experience. Jan 2 2018, Lahti. | Luulen tämän päivän olevan hyvää esimakua tulevasta vuodesta. Yön lähestyessä kuvia kasassa nolla -> kaupungille kameran kera. Karjalankatua kävellessä löysin maasta avaamattoman pikkusikariaskin (2. kuva), kenties merkki onnekkaasta illasta? Hetkeä myöhemmin huomasin ikkunasta kirjoituksen "Lahti on seuraava Kallio", hymähdin (3. kuva). Kuvaa ottaessa kerrostalon katolta/parvekkeelta irtosi reilu metrinen lumijäämassa. Ehdin nostaa käden pään suojaksi ja ottaa askeleen sivuun. Ohi meni. Kuinka ironista olisikaan kuolla 365-projektin toisena päivänä koska pysähdyt ottamaan kuvaa? Kaupungilla oli hyvin hiljaista, kuten talvisin yleensä tuppaa olemaan ilta-aikaan. Yksinäinen jouluvalaistu parveke tuntui siis sopivalta illan fiiliksiin (4. kuva). Kiertelyn jälkeen kotiinpäin palatessa tuli Aleksanterinkadulla vastaan päivän toinen maallinen objekti. Lintu. Nähtävästi sillä ei ollut yhtä hyvä tuuri putoavan jään kanssa.
